National Fraternity Launches Redesigned National Website
It is
with extreme pleasure that the National Fraternity announces the launch of a
newly redesigned website at www.betasigmapsi.org. This project has been in
the works for several months, and it has been through the hard work and
dedication of several members of the National Board of Directors that this
project has now come to fruition.
This
new website is the beginning of the National Fraternity's efforts to better
market Beta Sigma Psi to college aged Lutheran males throughout the country.
In the
coming months the National Fraternity will under go various projects to brand
Beta Sigma Psi as the best choice for Lutheran males at college and
university campuses across the country.
I hope
that you will check back frequently to this new site. If you are interested
in helping the National Fraternity with this new marketing campaign, please
contact me. It is only through the work of all Beta Sigs that this campaign
can be truly successful.
Fraternally,

Chad Pfister

Alumni chapter is made up of Alumni from Xi Chapter at the University of
Nebraska-Kearney.

National Fraternity
Provides Internet Resources to Groups
The National Fraternity Board
of Directors recently released a new and improved National Website. This release is just the tip of the iceberg
for a new marketing initiative for Beta Sigma Psi.
In order to help the various
clubs and chapters better recruit new members, interact with their
membership, and promote their events, the
National Fraternity offers web hosting free of charge to chapters in good
standing. Several chapters currently
host their websites with hosting provided by the National Fraternity and
there are plenty of resources to be used.
Discussion groups and announcement lists make it easy to reach members
effectively and unlimited email addresses can be hosted under the service.
If you don't have the talent
in your group to create web pages the Joomla content management system makes
it easy to create an Internet presence.
Resources such as databases, streaming media, photo galleries,
bulletin boards, rss enabled blogs, and jabber messaging servers are all
available to all chapters. For more information contact webmaster@betasigmapsi.org.
Alpha Chapter
Celebrates 50 years of Rebirth
In conjunction with Homecoming
at the University
of Illinois, the men of
Alpha Chapter celebrated the 50th Anniversary of its
re-founding. The celebration included
a Reception on Friday night, an Awards Luncheon, and Football tailgate. All in all over 100 brothers, friends and
family members participated in the weekend’s activities celebrating the
accomplishments of the chapter over the past 50 years. More information about this celebration
will be featured in the upcoming issue of the Gold Rose.
The National Fraternity would
like to thank all those brothers from Alpha Chapter who have contributed to
the success not only of Alpha Chapter but of Beta Sigma Psi. It is the work these men have done that
makes Beta Sigma Psi the Fraternity it is today.
Educational Foundation
Update
The Board of Directors of the Educational Foundation is pleased to
announce the following items.
The Annual Phon-A-Thon will take place from
November 6 – November 13. For the
first time ever, the calls will all be made from the chapters themselves
instead of from the St. Louis area.
Thanks to Sprint for again donating the use of a dozen of their cell phones,
which allows the Educational Foundation to be able to take the show on the
road. A letter was sent to all donors
about 4 weeks ago asking donors to make a donation via the mail. Those donors who return donations by
November 1 will not be contacted by our collegiate members. The more brothers that donate before the
deadline the more time that is available for non-donors to be called.
Elections for the Educational Foundation
Board of Directors are also being conducted at this time. Anyone brother who donates more than $30 to
the Educational Foundation is eligible to vote for members of the Board. The following members of the Board of
Directors are stepping down at the end of their term: Keith Dierberg, Roger
Plackemeier, Wade Harrison, and Craig Varner.
The Educational Foundation and the National Fraternity would like to
thank these men for serving Beta Sigma Psi in this capacity over the past
many years. 3 Brothers have answered
the call to serve the Educational Foundation as Board members and have asked
to be placed on the ballot. These men are: Rod Thompson, Lee Hahnel, and Bill
Braun.
Also, during its October Conference Call the
Educational Foundation has decided to restart the Regional Alumni Prayer
Breakfasts program. While a date has
not been set yet for the first breakfast, it is likely to kick off with Ash
Wednesday 2006. If you would be
interested in hosting or planning one of these breakfasts please contact one
of the members of the Educational Foundation Board of Directors.
Finally, the Educational Foundation will be relaunching the Alumni
Seminary Scholarship program. The program provides partial scholarships to
any alumni who are enrolled in training to become pastors. The applications will be available in late
January for those in training during the 2006-2007 school year.

Trying to Increase
Subscription Base
It is the goal of the National Board to use Marty’s Boys
as a means of communicating on a more frequent basis with alumni, collegiate
members, and all parties interested in the happenings of Beta Sigma Psi. In order to do that, we are asking that you
pass along Marty’s Boys to friends, family, advisors, and church officials
who may not be currently subscribed to Marty’s Boys. While we have done our best to ensure that
we are reaching as many people as possible, there is always at least one
person whom we inevitably miss.
If someone would like to subscribe to Marty’s Boys they
can do so by going to the following website: http://lists.betasigmapsi.org/listinfo.cgi/martysboys-betasigmapsi.org. If they have any problems they should
contact Chad Pfister.
