Successful New Member Forum Held in Kansas City

Approximately forty active and associate members from Epsilon, Eta, Iota, and Alpha Alpha Chapters attended the New Member Forum at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Independence, MO, on November 11th.  The associate members covered topics such as the importance of teambuilding, discovering leadership styles, hazing, and what roles fraternal values play in our individual lives.  The active members shared ideas and thoughts on ways to continue membership education beyond associate membership and different methods for conducting associate member education.  The New Member Forum marked the first time in several years that the National Fraternity had successfully set up and executed an event during the fall semester.

National Fraternity Partners with Apparel Merchandiser

The National Board of Directors is pleased to announce a new partnership with OnDemand 24-7.  This new partnership will allow Beta Sigs to order business and casual appear with the Fraternity crest embroidered upon it.  OnDemand 24-7 specializes in on demand embroidered apparel for business and organizations across the country.

This new partnership is all about convenience to our members. Now you can order directly from their online store using a credit card and have your order shipped directly to your home address.  You won’t have to wait for someone else to take the time to put together a design and then wait for them to get enough interest to place an order.  Plus a small portion of your order amount goes to support the National Fraternity programming expenses.  So not only do you get great apparel items but you also help further the Fraternity’s programming efforts.

For more details and information on how to order apparel, please visit the National Website.

Beta Sigs Take On IFC Presidencies, Leadership Positions Next Calendar Year

Beta Sigma Psi will be well represented on Interfraternity Council Executive Boards at Iowa State University and University of Missouri – Rolla.  Eta Chapter senior Chester Grohs has been elected the new IFC President at UMR.  Iowa State’s IFC Executive Council has four Beta Sigs: junior Luke Johanson (President), junior Kolton Boyer (Recruitment), junior Tony Filippini (Finance), and sophomore Brad White (Community Service & Philanthropy).  Congrats to these five gentlemen as they represent Beta Sigma Psi in important positions in their Greek communities!

2007 MEF/NBT To Be Hosted by Alpha-Alpha Chapter

The National Fraternity is proud to announce that Alpha-Alpha Chapter will be hosting the 2007 Membership Education Forum and National Basketball Tournament, February 16-18, in Fremont, Nebraska.

The MEF will be divided into two parts.  The morning session will see collegiate and alumni members divided into discussion groups on various issues and topics that affect our chapters today.  The session following lunch will focus on what it means to be a brother in Beta Sigma Psi and how our relationships are affected by some of the issues that continue to plague fraternities.  The NBT will be a double-elimination tournament held at Midland Lutheran College’s brand-new Event Center.

More details will be coming in the following weeks.  If you have any questions, please contact Kevin Stinn at leadershipdirector@betasigmapsi.org or Alpha Alpha Chapter President Dusty Stehl at stehldt@mlc.edu.

2007 Leadership Academy to Take New Look

The National Fraternity will once again be conducting its Leadership Academy January 13-14, 2007, at Camp Wartburg (near Waterloo, IL).  Presidents, recruitment chairmen, and up-and-coming leaders in our active chapters are invited to attend this retreat-style event, which, for the first time, will be held over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend.

Three separate tracks of programming will be available for the three aforementioned groups.  Presidents and recruitment chairmen will attend for free, while up-and-coming leaders’ registration fee will cost only $50.  Registration forms will be available online within the week and are due December 15, 2006.  The Leadership Academy will be an excellent opportunity to learn leadership and management skills, interact with members from other chapters, and formulate ways to help your chapter, and we hope to see lots of members apply!

2007 Awards Applications Now Available

Applications for the 2007 National Fraternity awards are now available online.  Submissions should cover the 2006 calendar year, as opposed to the academic year timelines in the past.  All submissions will be due January 13, 2007.  If you have any questions about this year’s awards, please contact Kevin Stinn at leadershipdirector@betasigmapsi.org.

All Active and Alumni Chapter Forms Available Online

Starting this semester, all active and alumni chapters must submit all forms electronically in order for them to be properly accepted.  These forms as well as the dates for submission may be obtained at http://www.betasigmapsi.org/forms.html.  If you have problems accessing these forms, please contact either Kevin Stinn (leadershipdirector@betasigmapsi.org) or Chad Pfister (president@betasigmapsi.org).

Fundraising Opportunity for Educational Foundation

Now you can raise money for the Beta Sigma Psi Educational Foundation just by searching the Internet at GoodSearch.com.

You use GoodSearch.com like any other search engine - the site is powered by Yahoo! - but each time you do, money is generated for us.  Here’s how it works:

1.      Go to www.goodsearch.com

2.      Type Beta Sigma Psi into the “I support” box and click on “verify”

3.      Search the Internet just like you would with any search engine

4.      Since GoodSearch shares its advertising revenue with charities and schools, every time you search the Internet at GoodSearch, you’ll be earning money for us.

5.      GoodSearch also has a toolbar you can download from the homepage so that you can search right from the top of your browser.  Go to the GoodSearch.com Toolbar and follow the instructions on how to download the toolbar to your computer!

You can keep track of our estimated earnings by clicking on “amount raised” once you designate us as your organization of choice.  We estimate that each search will generate approximately $0.01 for the Educational Foundation. If we can get 1,000 supporters searching twice a day we would receive an estimated $7,300 per year.  Even if we had 100 supporters searching twice a day we would earn an estimated $730.

The sky is the limit, though – the more people who use the site, the more money we’ll earn, so please spread the word!!
