MEF/NBT in Nebraska Combines Programming, Excellence,
and Excitement
Alpha Alpha Chapter hosted the 2007 edition of the
Membership Educational Forum and National Basketball Tournament. Approximately 100 undergrads combined
attended the morning and afternoon sessions which, although being a smaller
crowd than normal MEF standards, remained engaged during a unique combination
of programming.
The morning session featured student-led
groups discussing various attributes about our fraternity, including review
of the vision and mission statement work stemming from last August’s National
Council Meeting. The afternoon session
was led by six members of Alpha Chapter, who performed a series of skits and
interactive discussions that highlighted what it means to be a brother and
how brotherhood can be affected by the negative decisions we sometimes make.
A team of Alpha Alpha alumni won this year’s NBT over Iota Chapter 28-22, in
a tournament that featured a record four alumni teams and a fire alarm that
brought basketball to a halt for over a half hour. The members from the winning team have now
won three consecutive tournaments, the first two as active members of Alpha
Alpha Chapter.
For the first time, National Fraternity awards were presented in conjunction
with the Membership Educational Forum covering accomplishments during the
2006 calendar year. The winners of the
awards are as follows:
o
Welge –
Beta Chapter
o
Baehr –

o

– John “Cookie” Anderson, Epsilon Chapter
o

Cup – Alpha Alpha Chapter
o

College Fraternity Editors Association established the CFEA Scholarship
Program in May 2005 to provide financial support to undergraduate members of
Greek organizations who are pursuing degrees in communications-related fields
(journalism, graphic design, public relations, broadcasting, etc.)
The number of recipients will vary based on qualification and available
resources. Successful applicants will be notified by the Scholarship
Committee by June 15, 2007. Funds will be distributed directly to scholarship
recipients prior to the start of the fall 2007 quarter/semester, based on

Fundraising Opportunity for Educational Foundation
Now you can raise money for the Beta Sigma Psi Educational Foundation just by searching the Internet at GoodSearch.com.

You use GoodSearch.com like any
other search engine - the site is powered by Yahoo! - but each time you do,
money is generated for us. Here’s how it works:
1. Go to www.goodsearch.com
2. Type Beta Sigma Psi
into the “I support” box and click on “verify”
3. Search the Internet just like you would with any
search engine
4. Since GoodSearch shares its advertising revenue
with charities and schools, every time you search the Internet at GoodSearch,
you’ll be earning money for us.
5. GoodSearch also has a toolbar you can download
from the homepage so that you can search right from the top of your
browser. Go to the GoodSearch.com Toolbar and
follow the instructions on how to download the toolbar to your computer!
You can keep track of
our estimated earnings by clicking on “amount raised” once you designate us
as your organization of choice. We
estimate that each search will generate approximately $0.01 for the
Educational Foundation. If we can get 1,000 supporters searching twice a day
we would receive an estimated $7,300 per year. Even if we had 100
supporters searching twice a day we would earn an estimated $730.
The sky is the limit, though – the more people who use the site, the more
money we’ll earn, so please spread the word!!
