National Alumni Survey
The Beta Sigma Psi National Lutheran Fraternity Board of
Directors is updating their strategic and operating plans. As an input to the
planning process, we'd like to know what you think about Beta Sigma Psi today
and what you think is important for the future.
Pursuant to these goals, the National Fraternity is offering an online survey,
which should take 5-10 minutes to complete. There are some questions about
your experiences as an active, but the emphasis is on your views as an
alumnus, and your ideas for tomorrow.
To encourage you to take the time to give us your input,
there will be a random drawing with prizes awarded. Three names will be
selected from survey participants and for each of the three alumni, $500 will
be donated in their name to the active chapter, alumni chapter, or other Beta
Sigma Psi organization of their choice. If you’d like to complete the survey
anonymously, and not participate in the drawing, that is fine too.
To complete the survey, visit http://www.betasigmapsi.org/survey/.
Thank you in advance for your help with this effort. We are looking forward
to your input.
Date Changes
Announced for National Fraternity 2007 Regional Events
This fall the National Fraternity will sponsor two
regional events designed as a combination of educational programming for
collegiate groups and a social and networking gathering for collegiate and
alumni members. The dates and
locations for the two events are Aug. 25th in Kansas City (Δ, Z, H, I, X, AA, and
area alumni) and Sep. 22nd in Chicago (A, B, E, Ψ, and area alumni).
Programming and discussion groups will occur in the morning and early
afternoon, followed by a softball tournament open to any collegiate and
alumni groups. More information will
follow in the coming months. If you
have any questions at this point, please contact Kevin Stinn at
leadershipdirector@betasigmapsi.org.

Beta Sigma Psi Wiki
Needs Your Help
Beta Sigma Psi is now on Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_Sigma_Psi
. Every article created on Wikipedia is developed entirely by user
contribution. Beta Sigma Psi's wiki is
part of the Fraternities and Sororities project, which is an effort to build
a comprehensive and detailed guide to Greek Life on Wikipedia. Currently, the Beta Sig page is rated a
start-class project. This is where we
need your help. In order to make the
Beta Sig page great, it needs users contributing to its contents and
guaranteeing its quality of information.
Currently, there are a few major projects that need to be accomplished on the
Beta Sig wiki.
1) Pictures of the founders, along with other pictures of historical
importance need to be added to the History section. Images of important Beta Sig presidents,
like Hingst and Edwards, could be added as well.
2) The Notable Alumni section needs to be expanded, especially the addition
of Beta Sigs who have been important within the Lutheran Church.
3) The organization section needs to be expanded to include a general
overview of how the three corporations are organized, as well as how the
national fraternity organizes chapters and officers. Quality examples of such a section can be
found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi_Beta_Phi#Organization
and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phi_Sigma_Kappa#The_Phi_Sigma_Kappa_Foundation
4) A trivia/random facts section needs to be added. A quality example of such a section can be
found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Kappa_Epsilon#Additional_Historical_Facts
5) Because Wikipedia is an unbiased source, the formation of Beta Sigma Theta
fraternity needs to be addressed in our history or random facts section
If you are willing to help with the project, please register as a member of
Wikipedia so other contributors may discuss with you any controversial or
poorly organized changes. In addition,
as a registered user you can add the Beta Sig user template {{User Beta Sigma
Psi}} to your user page. Who knows,
with enough help the Beta Sig page could become a featured article on
Wikipedia.

Fundraising Opportunity for Educational Foundation
Now you can raise money for the Beta Sigma Psi Educational Foundation just by searching the Internet at GoodSearch.com.

You use GoodSearch.com like any
other search engine - the site is powered by Yahoo! - but each time you do,
money is generated for us. Here’s how it works:
1. Go to www.goodsearch.com
2. Type Beta Sigma Psi
into the “I support” box and click on “verify”
3. Search the Internet just like you would with any
search engine
4. Since GoodSearch shares its advertising revenue
with charities and schools, every time you search the Internet at GoodSearch,
you’ll be earning money for us.
5. GoodSearch also has a toolbar you can download
from the homepage so that you can search right from the top of your
browser. Go to the GoodSearch.com Toolbar and
follow the instructions on how to download the toolbar to your computer!
You can keep track of our
estimated earnings by clicking on “amount raised” once you designate us as
your organization of choice. We
estimate that each search will generate approximately $0.01 for the
Educational Foundation. If we can get 1,000 supporters searching twice a day
we would receive an estimated $7,300 per year. Even if we had 100
supporters searching twice a day we would earn an estimated $730.
The sky is the limit, though – the more people who use the site, the more
money we’ll earn, so please spread the word!!
